Bouboulina's Museum

The museum is housed in the three hundred year old mansion of Bouboulina Laskarina - the only woman with the title of admiral in world history.

The Museum is located 100 meters behind the main port of Dapia. The tour in the house lasts 40 minutes and you will learn about the story of the legendary Captain, from her birth in the Turkish prisons in Istanbul, her contribution in the fight for liberation in 1821, the sacrifices she made for her homeland, to her unexpected and tragic death. You will also see collections of weapons, old books, documents and letters from the years of the Revolution, paintings and ship models, portraits and engravings of Bouboulina, personal belongings, maps, embroidery, statues, Byzantine paintings, furniture and objects of the 17th-20th century as well as the magnificent Florentine carved ceiling of the great hall.

The museum remains closed in winter for repairs and maintenance. It is open on Ash Monday and then daily from March 25th to October 28th. Information concerning the tours you will find on the announcement boards in the central port of Dapia and outside the museum. The number of daily tours is based on season.
